Financial Aid

Portman, the Management Committee is committed to support any student who requires financial assistance to complete his or her education in the college. No deserving student who qualifies for Portman College will be denied admission because of financial difficulties.

Bank Loan

Portman encourage students' parent to apply for bank loan. The minimum salary to apply for bank loan is only RM 1,500. Usually, bank loan offer flexible and long repayment period of up to 7-10 years (varies from banks). 

Parent/Guardian just need to fill up the application form, submit and the whole process should take not more than 2 weeks (some banks you just need 48 hours to know the approval result). 

 

PTPTN

Qualified applicant/applicants must be a Malaysian citizen with minimum 3 SPM credits.

· Initially, students must be accepted into a Diploma or Degree full time course prior to the loan application.

· Loans are provided to those who currently not hold any other sponsor.

· Circumstances where loans may be terminated by PTPTN:

  • If CPGA achieved for any particular semester is below 2.00
  • Academic period is extended from normal schedule (due to subject repeats, etc)

· Certified documents needed to submit with application form:

  • Photocopy of IC
  • Offer letter from IPT
  • Photocopy of academic results

· Application form can be bought from PTPTN with RM5 only.

 

KOJADI

Collateral

  • Do not have to pledge your FD receipt or property with KOJADI to secure the loan. Just become a KOJADI member with the requisite shares and provide only two or three guarantors.

Loan Amount

  • Maximum loan of RM15,000.00 for Diploma and certificate level

Competitive Interest Rate

  • Interest rate is competitively and consistently maintained at 8-9% to facilitate your financial planning

Affordable Repayment

  • Loan payment only commences 3-6 months after graduation
  • Interest is calculated on a monthly rest basis to your favour
  • No repayment during the period of study but borrower may opt to service interest in the meanwhile
  • Low and flexible repayments with monthly installments as low as RM200
  • A period of 4~8 years after graduation is granted for repayment of the loan.

 

EPF

The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) can withdrawing money from their Account II which comprise 30 per cent of members' savings.

It is important that members' recognize as withdrawals from Account II are subject to the availability of funds in that account and not on the entire savings.

The entire application, process and approval usually take about 2-3 weeks time.

Education Withdrawal Scheme

This scheme allows members to withdraw their savings to finance their higher education from diploma level. However for members' children, parents will be able to finance their education from degree level onwards.

Meanwhile, for information, Account I and III which comprise 60 per cent and 10 per cent of members' funds have been allocated for withdrawals by members for their retirement at age 55 and for medical expenses respectively.

Career / Job Placement Office

Portman aims to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to make informed and satisfactory educational and career choices. To this end, besides organising career talks for students, we plan to place internship programmes and a job shadowing scheme to provide our students with first-hand experience in a work environment.
